The South Africa AACE Section successfully held its 1st AACE International South Africa Workshop & Conference last week under the aegis of the AACE Director Region 9 (Europe & Africa). At OnTrack Engineering we are proud to have supported this event, the two AACE certification workshops that were held over the first 4 days and were followed by the conference on Friday 25th August. Our special thanks also go to other sponsors, Nomitech, ProjectLink, Ares and P&CE Services for their support, as well as to the staff of the Hilton Hotel Sandton who went out of their way to make the event a memorable one. We also would like to extend our hearty thanks to the out-going president of AACE South Africa section, Nic Bennett for helping those present be inspirational and share their enthusiasm for project controls. He pointed out that inspired people work at their best. They take on bigger challenges. They become more self-critical, and are open to accountability for their quality of work and the results achieved. People become more committed to helping others achieve more. This ripple effect continues to inspire individuals and companies across the world.
The discussion at the end of the last day of the event centered on the Section’s future, with the conclusion being that SAPCI be abandoned and rebranded as AACE-ZA and a new board appointed. After all the inspirational talk, six of the members present put themselves forward to serve on the board.
The new board of AACE International South Africa section is as follows:
|Morne Beeslaar||Yaw Yaboah|
|Jabu Fihla||Gail Potgieter|
|Albert Chetsanga||Joalinda Asuamah|
|Anel Cronje||Alan Hutty|
|Quinton van Eeden||Kevin Mattheys|
The board will meet on 15 Sept 2017 to decide on the allocation of portfolios. This will no doubt give the project management community a new lease of life.
